Henri Lebasque Postcards

Henri Lebasque (1865–1937) painted the quiet moments of family life bathed in southern light: mothers adjusting a daughter's dress by the window, women sewing on sunlit balconies, girls playing mandolin or resting in deck chairs among roses and anemones. A French post-impressionist who exhibited alongside Matisse and Bonnard at the first Salon d'Automne, he filled his canvases with gardens and wildflowers.
