"View of the Garden from the Window" is one of Lebasque's looser, almost improvised studies — a yellow curtain to the right, a tall white-flowering shrub front and centre, pinks and blues drifting through the bed, green hills rising in the distance. The brushwork is fast and open, the way painters use a window to catch a single moment of light.
