Village Courtyard — Mykola Pymonenko Postcard

This summer courtyard scene is characteristic of Mykola Pymonenko (1862–1912), the Ukrainian realist who built his life's work around the quiet drama of village life — a young woman tending the family cow and calf, a young man at the well, a household at ease in afternoon light.

As an A6 art postcard the painting becomes a portable greeting: a postcrossing card, a thoughtful gift for collectors of Ukrainian art, or a desk-side reminder of how Pymonenko saw the country he loved.
