Setting the Midsummer Table, 1904 — Fanny Brate Postcard

This is one of Fanny Brate's most ambitious interiors: a vast, light-filled blue-and-white Swedish drawing room with a crystal chandelier, painted tapestries, and tall windows opening onto a green summer landscape. An older girl in white carries food toward the table while a younger girl in blue arranges the garland-decorated cloth. Painted in 1904, it catches the last quiet minute of a Nordic summer table before guests arrive.
