Martin Johnson Heade — Lilies, Flowers and Strawberries | Postcard

White trumpet lilies with red-streaked petals lean out of a glass vase alongside small blue flowers, while ripe strawberries and their runners spill across the wooden ledge below, next to a knitted shawl. Painted before Heade turned to orchids and hummingbirds, this still life shows the more domestic, American side of his early work.

A gentle companion to send with a birthday note, or to pair alongside his tropical cards in a themed set.
