Klimt — The Kiss (1907–08) Belvedere Postcard

The Kiss, begun in 1907 and finished in 1908 at the height of Klimt's Golden Phase, shows two figures kneeling at the edge of a flowered cliff, sealed inside a single gilt mantle of squares and spirals. The original has been at the Belvedere in Vienna since 1908 — rarely lent out. On postcard format, it brings one of the most reproduced works in European art into a piece of correspondence: to be sent to someone who matters.
