Gustav Klimt — Schubert at the Piano (1899) Art Postcard

Schubert at the Piano (1899) shows a candlelit drawing-room: pianist and two women in an Impressionist interior. It is almost the last example of this pre-Secession Klimt — softly lit, figural, narrative. The original was destroyed in the fire at Schloss Immendorf at the end of the war in 1945 and survives only through photographs and reproductions.
