Klimt — Schubert at the Piano (1899) Art Postcard

Klimt painted Schubert at the Piano in 1899: a candlelit drawing-room scene of the composer playing for two singing women, atmospheric, almost Impressionist. The canvas was later moved to Schloss Immendorf for wartime storage, where it was destroyed in a fire as the war ended — along with other Klimt paintings held there. We know the image only from black-and-white photographs and from reproductions like this 10×15 cm postcard, made for collectors, music lovers, and postcrossers drawn to art whose original no longer exists.
