Caillebotte planted his own fruit trees at Petit Gennevilliers and painted orchards in bloom with a gardener's patience rather than a passing tourist's eye. White blossom drifts above warm pink-toned soil, young leaves still small on the branches, and a single footpath cuts straight through the rows toward the light.

A quieter side of an artist better known for balconies and boulevards — closer here to Pissarro's orchards than to his own bustling Paris streets.
