One of Caillebotte's defining bourgeois Paris pictures: a top-hatted figure seen from behind, framed by the red-and-white awning and the boulevard's parade of Haussmann façades below. The painter's flâneur — half observer, half resident — has become a near-emblem of late-19th-century city looking, painted with the same structural rigor Caillebotte brought to his other balcony and rooftop studies of the same neighbourhood. He returned to this vantage more than once, testing how much of Paris a single iron rail could frame, and the result reads as both a portrait of a man and a portrait of a city watched from a comfortable, unhurried distance. Printed at A6 on 350 g/m² stock, the card works equally well as a framed desk vignette, a postcrossing send, or a note to a fellow admirer of Impressionist Paris, sitting comfortably alongside his other boulevard and balcony views in any collector's grouping.
