Gustav Klimt — Portrait of a Lady, c. 1890s — Art Postcard

Before the gold leaf and before the Vienna Secession, Klimt was painting commissioned portraits in a naturalistic key. This early canvas from the 1890s — a young woman in black velvet, pearls at her throat, half-turned against a patterned tapestry — stays closer to academic naturalism than to the gold leaf that would come later. The postcard reproduces the work at 10×15 cm on 350 g/m² art stock. It opens a Klimt set with the painter as he was before the gold, and it carries weight as a quiet gift or a postcrossing send.
