Emile Claus – Farmyard with Green Shutters Postcard

No human figure appears, and none is needed. A white-plastered farmhouse with bright green shutters and a half-open door anchors the scene; bare tree trunks throw long diagonal shadows across the packed-earth yard, and chickens and a goose move across the ground on their own unhurried morning. Emile Claus finds what's worth seeing in the smallest rural corner — the exact green of those shutters, the precise angle of the shadows, the low light of early spring catching the façade.

Unlike the other Claus cards in this set, there isn't a single person in it — a quieter pick for a plain, unpeopled scene on your wall or in your album.
