Working land shows up rarely in Mønsted's postcard-friendly output, which makes a cattle drive through a beech avenue worth pausing on. The herd moves unhurried along a road roofed by high canopy, dappled light breaking across their backs and the packed earth beneath. Beech woodland gave Danish painters of this generation their signature subject — tall, pale trunks, a floor of last year's leaves, light filtered rather than direct — and Mønsted used it here as a stage rather than a subject in itself. The cattle give the beech road a purpose beyond scenery: someone is moving livestock to pasture or market, and the forest simply happens to be in the way. From our painting art postcard collection. Postcard, 10×15 cm, 350 g/m² art stock.
