Mediterranean Pergola with Sea View, Peder Mønsted — Art Postcard

One of Mønsted's largest and most spacious southern compositions — a long colonnaded pergola with grapevine canopy above, the columns casting diagonal shadows across the terrace floor, the brilliant blue Mediterranean visible between them with a rocky headland beyond. Two figures rest at the far end, prickly pear catching the light to the left. Mediterranean ease, classical proportions, the painter's Danish restraint set down on a southern terrace.
