Capri Hillside Path with Figures, Peder Mønsted — Postcard

Prickly pear cactus crowds both sides of this rocky Capri hillside path, tumbled stone underfoot and a whitewashed tower catching full sun in the middle distance. A woman with a red headscarf and a small child make their way along the track, a basket carried between them, olive trees scattered across the slope under a wide, cloud-streaked sky, with a glimpse of the open sea appearing beyond the cactus on the left as the path bends toward the tower.
