The mountain hare is one of the great natural painters' challenges — white animal, white ground, almost no contrast to lean on. Liljefors solves it the only way a serious naturalist can: by reading the shadow first. The hare's body moves in soft greys and faint blues, the fur deepening where it folds, the long ear holding a thin line of warm pink at the edge. Snow-covered shrubs frame the run without crowding it, and the whole picture becomes a small lesson in how to see white against white.
A6 on heavy art paper preserves that quiet range without sliding into glare. The card travels well through the international post and is a thoughtful pick for a postcrossing partner who keeps a wildlife list, a card for a friend who finds the off-season landscape more interesting than the high colours of summer, or a small framed presence on a winter desk.
