A birch grove turned gold with autumn, white trunks rising in loose rows above a still pond that doubles every branch and leaf on its surface. Two ducks rest near the near bank, fallen leaves drifting across the water and scattered thick along the shoreline. The light comes low and warm through the thinning canopy, typical of Mønsted's late-season forest interiors and his close attention to reflected color on still water.
