Arthur Thiele Bedtime Kitten with Rabbit & Gnome Doll — Postcard

Bedtime has its own entourage in this one: a kitten in a white nightgown, candle in hand, escorting a stuffed rabbit and a doll in a gnome's cap off to sleep, as if no one may turn in without the full cast present. Thiele draws the ritual with genuine tenderness rather than farce — one of his quieter, gentler compositions, closer to a lullaby than a joke.
