Stanislav Zhukovsky Samovar by the Window Postcard

A round table is set close to the latticed window. A polished samovar catches the daylight; the white tablecloth folds softly beside the teacups and a small bunch of garden flowers. Beyond the panes, summer foliage presses against the glass. Stanislav Zhukovsky (1875–1944) often turned away from open landscape to paint the inner life of country estates — the unhurried hour of tea, the quiet between guests. A small, warm room you can carry abroad in an envelope.
