Water Nymph, painted in 1907 by American artist Paul Swan (1883–1972), presents a mysterious female figure emerging from a dark, watery landscape. With one arm raised toward the sky, the nymph appears suspended between movement and stillness, surrounded by flowing water, vegetation and translucent, wing-like fabric.

Paul Swan was an American painter, sculptor, dancer and writer whose artistic career developed alongside his fascination with classical art and the expressive possibilities of the human figure. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and later travelled to Greece, where he encountered ancient sculpture and developed his interest in dance. Throughout his career, painting and movement remained closely connected in his artistic practice.

Reproduced as a fine-art postcard, Water Nymph brings the dreamlike atmosphere of early twentieth-century mythological art into the intimate format of traditional correspondence. It is an evocative choice for lovers of water nymphs, mythology, fantasy art, female figures, Art Nouveau-inspired imagery, symbolism, dance, nature and fine-art postcards for postcrossing and snail mail.

Glossy lamination on the front side of the postcard.
