Bowl with Sunflowers, Roses and Other Flowers — Vincent van Gogh, 1886

Painted in Paris in 1886, this early floral still life shows Vincent van Gogh in his pre-Provence palette — two years before the famous Arles Sunflowers. The bowl holds sunflowers alongside roses and other mixed flowers; the palette is still restrained, observational, closer to the Dutch tradition than to the saturated Arles register that was coming. The postcard turns one of his quieter bouquet studies into an art-stationery piece for correspondence or a small framed display. From the Vincent van Gogh collection.
