One of Renoir's best-loved double portraits, Two Sisters (On the Terrace) has lived at the Art Institute of Chicago since 1933. An older girl in a deep blue jacket and red hat sits on a terrace above the river; a younger child in a flowered hat is settled beside her, a small basket of brightly coloured yarn at hand.
