Renoir — Roses from the Garden at Wargemont (1882) — Postcard

A loose, almost airborne study of roses gathered at the Wargemont estate, where Renoir painted as a guest of the Bérard family in the early 1880s. The roses lie unarranged on a soft blue-grey ground without a vase, each blossom holding its own weight of light.
