Renoir — Flowers and Prickly Pears (c. 1885–86) — Postcard

An unusual Renoir still life: a white ribbed vase overflowing with pink, white and rust-red chrysanthemums stands beside the spiny fruit of an opuntia cactus, scattered with ripe pears across a linen cloth. Painted around 1885–86 and held at the Musée des Beaux-Arts d'Alger, it trades the Parisian flower stall for something closer to a Mediterranean garden.
