Painted in 1890, Yes or No? remains one of Leighton's most eloquent studies in romantic suspense. A young woman in a pink empire-waist dress holds a posy of blue flowers at a staircase balcony — her suitor leans close, her answer still unspoken. The painting is now in a private collection, last sold at Sotheby's New York (2014).
