The Letter Postcard — Edmund Blair Leighton, 1921

Painted in 1921 and now in a private collection in Australia, The Letter (51 × 36 cm) shows Leighton's characteristic restraint in an Edwardian domestic interior. A young woman at an antique bureau by a lace-curtained sash window — roses visible through the glass — sits absorbed in her correspondence. The scene is quiet, entirely private, lit from the side. One of his final works, and among his most refined. Art postcard 10×15 cm, 350 g/m² glossy. Part of the Edmund Blair Leighton collection.
