Six people are sharing a small crossing on the Waveney in Norfolk — an older woman in black, a couple seen from behind, a boy at the bow, a young woman in a pink bonnet holding a small posy, and the ferryman pulling at the oars. The thatched barn on the far bank was Leighton's own, painted from his summer home not far from the river. The Ferry is a late picture, finished in 1921 — one of his last full-scale narrative works — and warmth shows in every figure.

Printed as an A6 art postcard, 350 g/m², with a glossy front, the card travels well and looks at home in a frame, on a windowsill, or alongside a letter. For readers, collectors of English pastoral painting, and postcrossing partners alike, browse the full Edmund Blair Leighton collection.
