Based on Maurice Maeterlinck's 1892 symbolist play, Pelleas and Melisande (1910) is held at the Williamson Art Gallery and Museum, Birkenhead — the only publicly held painting in this Leighton series. The canvas (159.5 × 126 cm) captures the pivotal moment at the forest well: Mélisande, the ring now in the water below, gazes upward — Pelleas kneeling at the stone rim. Leighton fills the scene with dappled medieval light and the Pre-Raphaelite palette of rose, green, and gold. Art postcard 10×15 cm, 350 g/m² glossy. Part of the Edmund Blair Leighton collection.
