Larkspur at the Open Window — Stanislav Zhukovsky Postcard

The window is thrown all the way open. On the sill, an earthenware jug holds a thick handful of blue and lavender larkspur, and beyond the frame a single garden path runs into shadow. Zhukovsky paints this scene without any people in it — and that absence is what makes it feel like a private letter.
