Jenny Nyström — Child with Sled at Winter Twilight, 1939

In 1939, when Jenny Nyström was eighty-five years old, she signed and dated this winter scene: a child in a polka-dot coat pulling a wooden sled through a snowy field at twilight, bullfinches resting on bare branches above. The warm band of a setting sun on the horizon, the blue-grey dusk above — her eye for light and warmth was as clear then as it had been half a century before. One of her last known works, and among the most serene in the Jenny Nyström collection. Printed on 350 g/m² art stock at 10×15 cm.
