Girl Reading ‘The Bed-Time Book’ — Jessie Willcox Smith Postcard

A fair-haired child sits up in a large bed, absorbed in a copy of ‘The Bed-Time Book’, propped against pillows beneath a heavy rose-patterned quilt. The dark carved headboard and deep red wall give the scene a warm, lamplit stillness, typical of Jessie Willcox Smith's illustrations of childhood.
