Jessie Willcox Smith — Girl and Dog on the Shore Postcard

A red-haired girl sits at the water's edge, arms wrapped tight around a shaggy black-and-tan terrier, her hair blown sideways by the sea wind. Painted by Jessie Willcox Smith, the scene captures the unguarded tenderness between a child and her dog, their reflection rippling in the wet sand below.

A gentle choice for anyone who collects Smith's illustrations of childhood, or for sending to a dog-loving friend.
