Brendekilde — Garden Path Between Thatched Cottage and Hydrangeas

A narrow garden path runs between a whitewashed thatched cottage on the left and a yellow farmhouse glimpsed through a picket fence on the right. In the foreground, a magnificent clump of deep purple-blue hydrangeas blooms against the green. Further along the fence, two small figures can just be made out — a woman, perhaps a child. Signed “H.A.B.” lower left, one of Brendekilde's more garden-focused compositions.
