Evening at the Piano — Stanislav Zhukovsky Postcard

The room is mostly red and brown — log walls, a dark rug, a piano the colour of old wine — and inside it a young woman in a white dress sits at the keyboard with her head turned away. The light is all on the wrong side: amber, leaking in from a window and a doorway, leaving most of the room in shadow. You don't see her play. You hear her stop.
