Carl Larsson – Woman by the Lake, Sundborn (1908) – Postcard

Dated 1908, this watercolour shows a woman in a wide white hat and blue apron standing by the lakeside garden at Sundborn — orange tiger lilies in bloom, a young tree, and a rowing boat on the still water in the distance. Carl Larsson returned to this garden view repeatedly, each time a study in the beauty of a particular Swedish summer. An open, unhurried composition. Part of the Carl Larsson postcard collection.
