Carl Larsson – Girl at the Garden Gate, Sundborn – Postcard

The red wooden cottage at Sundborn — one of the most recognised images in Swedish art. A small girl in a blue dress and black hat stands at the blue-green gate; a cat moves at her feet while sunflowers and dahlias nod in the late-summer light. Carl Larsson's home at Sundborn became the subject of his most loved watercolours, and this outdoor scene holds its warmth with characteristic lightness. Part of the Carl Larsson postcard collection.
