Esbjörn (1900) — Baby Portrait by Carl Larsson

In November 1900 at his home in Sundborn, Carl Larsson painted his infant son Esbjörn — rosy, plump, in white ruffles and red boots, settled on his mother's lap. The inscription on the original reads simply "Esbjörn, Nov. 1900 i Sundburn." Published in the family album Larssons (1902), this portrait is one of the most recognisable images of early Nordic family art.
