Brendekilde — Girls Picking Primroses in Beech Forest (Art Postcard)

The forest floor is a carpet of yellow primroses — hundreds of blooms among the tall bare trunks of a beech wood just waking for spring, leaves still tightly curled. An older girl in a white pinafore over a dark dress holds a gathered bouquet of primroses; beside her, a younger girl in blue crouches to pick more, a narrow path winding between them.
