Brendekilde — Yellow Broom Hillside above a Sandy Bay (Postcard)

A hillside covered in yellow broom, dense and fully in flower, overlooks a long sandy beach curving around a bay. The sea catches the summer light in blue, white clouds drift above distant headlands where pale buildings are just visible. Signed “H.A.B.” lower left. The composition opens wide — sky, sea, and the hillside's yellow abundance — Brendekilde painted the Danish coast far less often than his forests and farms.

A rarer subject from him, worth keeping aside from the rest of a collection, or sending to someone who misses the seaside.
