Swiss artist Franz Niklaus König documented regional dress in careful costume studies, and this one shows a young woman from Bern in her summer best: a flowered straw hat, laced black bodice, striped skirt, and a basket of cherries over one arm — a small window into 19th-century Swiss fashion.

An interesting addition to a costume-history collection, or a note to someone who's been to Switzerland.
