A woman reclines in an enameled bathtub, her hair loosely pinned with a red ribbon, one arm resting on the tub's edge with a spray of pink roses, the other cradling her head in quiet repose. A swan-shaped brass tap curves above the water, and beside her a scallop-shell dish holds a pocket watch and jewelry, while an open book rests on the white linens nearby. Every detail — the roses, the tap, the watch, the book — builds a small, luxurious world entirely her own.
"Le Bain" (1867) is held in the collection of the Musée d'Orsay and remains one of Alfred Stevens's most intimate compositions. This postcard reproduces the painting at 10×15 cm on 350 g/m² cardstock, a striking addition to any collector's set from the Alfred Stevens postcard collection.
