A red-haired woman in an elaborate ivory silk gown pauses at an open window, a flower held loosely at her side as her gaze drifts through the open window. Behind her, a Japanese folding screen stands against yellow floral wallpaper and lacquered woodwork — the room itself a private museum of the Japonisme that swept through 1870s Paris. Alfred Stevens was among the earliest Western painters to collect and paint Japanese decorative objects, and this interior shows exactly why: the screen's gilded surface and the woman's ruffled silk trade light back and forth across the canvas.

"La Parisienne Japonaise" (c. 1872–74) captures Stevens at the height of his fascination with Japanese art, a fashion he helped popularize among Parisian collectors. Printed at 10×15 cm on 350 g/m² cardstock, this Zolota Ptakha postcard suits collectors of Japonisme-era art and anyone drawn to quiet interiors. See more in the Alfred Stevens collection.
