Misty Morning with Feluccas, Ivan Aivazovsky — Art Postcard

Aivazovsky rarely painted a still sea, which makes this one worth a second look: two feluccas sit beached on a sandy shore, sails still raised, while sailors wade beside them in water gone flat and pale. Sea and sky all but merge in the haze — a grey-pearl morning with none of his usual weather.

A good pick for a collection built around the quieter side of marine painting, or simply for the stillness itself.
