Misty Morning with Feluccas, Ivan Aivazovsky — Art Postcard

Aivazovsky almost never painted a still sea, and this is one of the exceptions — two feluccas drawn up on a sandy shore, sailors at work between them, and a mist so heavy that sea and sky barely separate. The light is grey-pearl, the mood quiet.

It's an interesting card to carry — a side of his vocabulary collectors of marine painting often miss, printed at postcard scale for archives, correspondence, or a thoughtful gift.
